On January 31, 2025, the official opening of INNOFEIT EDIH marked a major milestone in North Macedonia’s digital transformation and its integration into the European network of Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs). Spearheaded by the Center for Technology Transfer and Innovation – INNOFEIT, part of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies (FEEIT) at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, the hub is set to drive innovation, support the digitalization of businesses and public institutions, and strengthen cross-sector collaboration.
The opening ceremony featured remarks by Prof. Dr. Dimitar Tashkovski, Director of INNOFEIT; Prof. Dr. Biljana Angelova, Rector of UKIM; Prof. Dr. Vesna Janevska, Minister of Education and Science; and Mr. Stefan Andonovski, Minister of Digital Transformation. All speakers emphasized the strategic importance of INNOFEIT EDIH in linking advanced technologies with the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the public sector, and academia—contributing to greater sustainability, competitiveness, and innovation in the region.
A panel discussion followed, focusing on the role of European Digital Innovation Hubs in accelerating digital transformation and promoting cross-sector cooperation. Moderated by Prof. Dr. Vladimir Atanasovski, Dean of FEEIT, the panel featured Mr. Stefan Andonovski; Prof. Dr. Vesna Janevska; Prof. Dr. Orce Simov, Vice President of the Macedonian Chambers of Commerce; Prof. Dr. Sasho Kocevski, Dean of the Faculty of Informatics at the University “Goce Delchev”- Shtip; and Mr. Slobodan Jovanovski, Executive Director of Kontron.
Co-financed by the European Union and the Government of North Macedonia, INNOFEIT EDIH serves as a bridge between academia, industry, and public institutions. It positions North Macedonia as a regional leader in digital innovation and a key player in the broader European innovation ecosystem.
