Description of the Course
This 4-day course introduces the principles and practical applications of cyber security, designed for individuals and organizations aiming to safeguard their digital assets through hands-on experience and expert-led training. Cyber security is a critical field in today’s digital age, protecting systems, networks, and data from cyber threats like malware, phishing, and data breaches. This course explores key areas such as network security, encryption techniques, and incident response, with applications in securing business systems, protecting customer data, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
Participants will learn the complete cyber security process: identifying vulnerabilities, implementing protective measures, detecting threats, and responding to incidents. Key topics include firewall setup, secure password management, encryption protocols, penetration testing basics, and developing a security incident response plan. Attendees will work on real-world projects, such as conducting a mock security audit, to apply their skills.
Tentative Agenda:
Day 1: Introduction, cyber security fundamentals, threat landscape, demo of tools
Day 2: Network security, encryption, vulnerability assessment
Day 3: Threat detection, incident response, hands-on exercises
Day 4: Security best practices, compliance, final project showcase
After four days, participants will leave with a practical understanding of cyber security tools and techniques, a mock security plan for a small business, and the confidence to identify, mitigate, and respond to cyber threats effectively.
